HUD Housing Counseling Program

In 1994 CCUSA initiated a Housing Counseling Program, which has been a Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved program since that time and which has grown to support a wide range of housing-related services throughout the country.

The geographic area served by CCUSA Housing Counseling affiliates covers 24 states representing both rural and urban communities. It should be noted, that because the CCUSA affiliates cover rural areas as well as urban, the challenges it faces when compared to principally urban agencies are significantly different. The large distances require careful planning and innovative strategies to ensure both coverage and judicious use of scarce resources.

The CCUSA Housing Counseling Program is located in these states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Washington, DC, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. The network has staff with rich and diverse bi-lingual ability to serve diverse client needs, especially within the Hispanic community but also to reach small sub-sections of populations of Vietnamese, Serbo-Croatian, Bantu, etc. The comprehensive array of housing counseling services is offered throughout CCUSA's entire service area. Since its inception in 1994, the CCUSA Housing Counseling Program has proven to be a provider of quality, timely, and individualized housing counseling services.
