Parish Social Ministry Regional Training

One great way to unite people of good will to serve the poor and transform society - is to hold a Parish Social Ministry Regional Training.

Each Parish Social Ministry Regional Training contains:
  • prayer and liturgy,
  • theological and spiritual foundations of the Catholic social mission for parish social ministry,
  • framework for parish social ministry based upon the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishop's statement, Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social Mission of the Parish, and
  • workshops to build capacity for parish social ministry.

A Parish Social Ministry (PSM) Regional Training is a weekend gathering that provides an opportunity for Catholic Charities agencies and diocesan offices to build and nurture relationships with the parishes in the diocese and develop parish social ministry leadership at the parish and diocesan levels.

Participants will renew their sense of personal and collective call to social ministry; deepen their understanding of the theological and spiritual foundations of the Catholic social mission and its manifestation in parish social ministry.

Catholic Charities USA staff will work in partnership with the sponsoring organizations on all aspects of the training. Other agencies have had favorable experiences with this training model.
