The Parish Social Ministry Office
The Parish Social Ministry (PSM) Office of Catholic Charities USA endorses the national growth and development of parish social ministry by supporting Catholic Charities agencies, dioceses and parish leaders in integrating the Church's social mission into parish life.
Parish social ministry is the largest programmatic response to the Catholic Charities mission to convene: to call the entire church and other people of good will to service and advocacy.
Catholic Charities USA uses the U.S. Bishop’s Statement Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social Mission of the Parish as the framework and theology for the work of parish social ministry. For the document, visit the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops website.
Consultation
The PSM Office is available to member organizations for consultative services related to initiation and effectiveness of parish social ministry programs. Catholic Charities USA will also work to connect member organizations for the sake of mentoring, networking, and the sharing of best practices.
PSM Professional Interest Section
The Parish Social Ministry Professional Interest Section (a.k.a. Section) of Catholic Charities USA is a network of people in parishes, dioceses and Catholic Charities agencies working to bring peace and justice to our Church, our communities, our nation and our world.
